News From Blue Genie Art Industries

It's 100 degrees here in Texas right now, so we have our thoughts towards the holiday season!  This December will mark the 8th Annual Blue Genie Art Bazaar, and we are all very excited.  We will be returning to the Monarch Event Center once again, because we really love paved parking, climate control, a staffed bar, and restrooms.

We are also excited to be launching our new Online Application. Applicants for the Art Bazaar can now apply directly from our website, upload images of their work, and pay the $30 application fee via PayPal.  We hope this makes the application process easier for everyone.  If you are interested in becoming a vendor, please review our Vendor Information page.

Things have been very busy at the shop.  Some of our latest projects include two large relief maps of the state of Texas for the University of Texas, a large robot themed mural, and a recreation of the Apollo 11 moon mission for the LBJ Museum.

We are about to start on another large scale project with our friends at Deep in the Heart Art Foundry.  We will be making a 10 foot tall full scale model of an A&M class ring, which will then be cast in bronze at the foundry.  The ring will be installed at the new Alumni Center on the A&M campus.

For virtual pictures of the ring, you can look here:

Another character joining the Blue Genie family is the Texas Jackalope.  Standing over 8 feet tall, fully saddled and ready to ride, the Jackalope has been traveling to different events bringing joy and wonder to all the girls and boys.

Other than that, we are currently working on a variety of other projects including murals, signs, parade floats, museum displays, and other scale up projects — all too numerous to mention here.  Be sure to look for them in the future, posted under the different categories of our site.

Personal News

A few months ago, the team participated in our first (and most likely last) "Blue Genie Chicken Challenge".  The local chicken "fryery" was offering a special on 50 pieces of chicken, which prompted Kevin to propose the question "can our staff consume 50 pieces of chicken in one sitting?"

The answer, sadly, was no, we can only eat 47.  However Josh walked away with the award for most pieces consumed (7).  Kristin opted out of the challenge as she has been a vegetarian since she was 12, and thusly did not walk around the rest of the day moaning and sweating chicken juice.
